Coronavirus and services: how much do they impact on Web Marketing?

We are experiencing a period that has no similar in the recent past. Technology can help us, but as seen in the previous article ( Coronavirus and people: how much do they impact on Web Marketing? ), We need to know how to use it correctly ... and I have to be able to meet people's needs.

The Coronavirus Covid-19 has led to slowdowns, blocks and suspensions of very useful (and in some cases, I would say, essential) services and platforms .

Allies, aware or unaware, we are and they are the service platforms.

Allies us ?! Do you ally service platforms ?! Strong statement, but in some cases necessary.

 Coronavirus Covid-19 , here's how platforms become a drag on Web Marketing

We are talking about Google, because it is often a pivot for many Web Marketing activities, especially at the promotional level.

Google Ads, what are you doing to me on some networks or some accounts?

Hard to say, I don't have enough elements, I don't find recurring patterns or rules and the very assistance of accounts or technical support seems to be groping in the same fog bank.

Fragmentary information arrives, sometimes in conflict ... and therefore: rien a faire!

Assistance is also limited, more or less heavily, always due to a pandemic (yet, who better than them should be able to fully use smart working?)

Let's not talk about Facebook for the moment , because it seems that everything is running quite smoothly: the problem is not so much the platform, but whoever frequents it .

Bulletin boards clogged with unsaved virologists, aspiring heads of state, many experienced pandemic gurus do we have any? Difficult to relate to useful and interesting information, when everything seems permeated by something a little less annoying than an invasion of locusts.

 Coronavirus Covid-19 , here's how platforms limit services for relaunch with Web Marketing

In the case of platforms that limit services and block a possible relaunch , I would take Google MyBusiness as an example. What are you doing right now? It is limiting operations ... and is effectively blocking some key features for certain realities.

Limited operation of Google My Business due to COVID-19

In this unprecedented COVID-19 emergency situation, we are taking steps to protect the health of our team members and to reduce the need to go to our offices in person. As a result, there may be some temporary limitations and delays in assistance as we prioritize essential services.

Our current goal is to ensure the quality and reliability of information on Google Search and Maps. We want to make sure that business users and owners have access to essential features, for example to know if the business is open or has special hours. Read more about best practices for interested companies and what you can do to keep your customers up to date.

Take note of the following temporary changes to the product:

Changes to information on the activities

We will prioritize reviews for major changes to health-related activities. Currently, we will also prioritize reviews for open and closed states, special hours, temporary closures, activity descriptions, and activity attribute changes for other verified activities.

Newly created cards, complaints and verifications

Our support team will manually review new cards, complaints and verifications for essential health related activities. As we prioritize these essential services, we anticipate a delay in posting new listings, complaints, and audits for other types of businesses on Google Search and Maps.

Reviews and questions and answers

There will be no new reviews, new review responses, and new questions and answers during this time.

Thank you for the patience you will want to show during this period. We will provide further updates as they become available.

No changes allowed to information on the activity: never before is it important to dedicate time to relaunch, renewal, growth ... will we have to do it on other spaces? the importance of not depending entirely on third parties returns.

Let's leave the tourist for a moment and think of a pizzeria, a restaurant, a fruit and vegetable: they could provide basic necessities online, with home delivery, but in some cases they do not yet have a website : no problem, we use Google MyBusiness, with a minisite and key information ... ah no, you can't ... and the importance of not depending entirely on third parties is back.

Without counting the cards closed temporarily or permanently due  to who knows what hyperbole of the algorithm, since not all of them are closed ... at the moment they cannot be declared open, or rather, they can but who knows when they will be taken into consideration, if not health or deemed essential.

Not answering reviews and questions from customers and potential customers is limiting beyond belief! one-way communication could create really big problems, repercussions on trust , feedback that is difficult to recover ... and the importance of not depending entirely on third parties returns.

Yet the fault lies not with the system, but with the people! Why did we come to this? To limit and block a whole series of fake activity cards, dissemination of reviews and answers and fake news. Few people are still, and again, the cause of a malfunction that will impact everyone ( Coronavirus and people: how much do they impact in Web Marketing? ).

And these are just a few examples of how services and platforms are affecting online marketing life cycles, slowing it down, slowing it down, stopping it totally in some cases.

But there is also something that still works, at full capacity or almost, and therefore:

we solve what is solvable, we identify the traps to which we can patch or that we can mend;

we do not waste time banging our heads in situations where we cannot intervene;

let's find out where we can intervene, and how we can intervene with positive effects.

Promote Awareness: a Message to Agile Coaches

It's been a long time since I have published anything in english. If you are one of my regular readers, you probably will think this kind of unusual. I've received an invitation from Manoel Pimentel to make a small contribution for his new book: The Agile Coaching DNA. I felt really glad and honoured to participate. This article is basically what I wrote for him. The process was simple. He asked me a question and I answered. The answer went into the book. Here is the question: Considering awareness is an essential element to catalyse improvements, what is your favourite practice to help individuals, teams, or entire organisations to become more aware of problems, gaps, needs, emotions, options, actions involved in some change/improvement? Why is it your favourite practice/approach to increase awareness? Could you briefly describe how Agile Coaches can use this practice/approach? I will answer these questions in two parts. First, I’m going to address the systemic probl
